Resources for Grades 9-12
Ontario secondary school teachers now have access to a variety of health and safety resources for use in the classroom. If you teach a subject with learning expectations related to health and safety, you'll be interested in the curriculum-based resources that will directly support your lessons. In addition there are a number of other resources available that can be used to prepare students to work safely.

Smart! Resources for Grades 9 - 12 courses
Customized health and safety lessons matched directly with specific learning expectations for over 80 courses in the secondary curriculum in course streams including Science, Technical Education, Career Studies and Arts. - Live Safe! Work Smart! Resources for Cooperative Education and Other Forms of Experiential Learning. An essential tool for co-op teachers and any teacher placing students in experiential learning situations. This is one of several key resources for co-op teachers .
- Live Safe! Work Smart! Resources for Teachers of Students with Special Learning Needs. Seven basic, easy-to-teach health and safety lessons for students who may be blind, deaf, have a learning disability or just need a different approach to learning about safety.
Selected supplementary safety resources suitable for the classroom
- WorkSmartOntario, the official Ministry of Labour website for young and new workers, was developed as a place for anyone new to the workforce to get answers to questions about workplace rules. Two customized quizzes for your students (and answers for your) are available. Find out how to use WorkSmartOntario in the classroom.
- Passport to Safety is a national online health and safety challenge designed to help ensure that people have the basic knowledge of health and safety they need to be ready for job-specific training in a workplace. When they've successfully completed the challenge students receive a certificate to attach to their resumes. Funding from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has made Passport to Safety free for Ontario students through their teachers. - Health and Safety 101 is an interactive online health and safety course developed by the WSIB It's a great general introduction to health and safety for students and is a great self-paced learning tool students can use prior to taking the Passport to Safety test. Why not check it out and see if it fits your needs? It might be especially useful for students studying online or if you don't have access to a guest speaker.
